R.I.P Jim Keays

(9 September 1946 - 13 June 2014)

ARIA would like to express its sadness at the passing of Australian rock legend Jim Keays on 13 June 2014 at the age of 67.

Keays fronted The Masters Apprentices as singer-songwriter, guitarist and harmonica-player from their formation in Adelaide in 1965 to their split in 1972. The band were at the forefront of the mid-60s garage rock movement in Australia before transitioning through a number of other genres including psychedelia, pop and prog. Keays subsequently had a solo career including leading Jim Keays' Southern Cross and The Jim Keays Band.

The Masters Apprentices were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 1998.

Our sincere condolences go to the family, friends and fans of Jim Keays.
