#NewMusicFriday: Bruce Springsteen, Ball Park Music, Ruel and more out now

It's #NewMusicFriday! Here's what's out this week.

The legendary Bruce Springsteen releases his twentieth studio album, Letter To You. It’s the first time since High Hopes (#1 Jan. ’14) that Springsteen has recorded with his backing group The E Street Band. It comes just over a year on from Springsteen’s previous album, Western Stars (#1 Jun. ’19).

Brisbane’s Ball Park Music return with their self-titled sixth album. The group’s last four studio albums appeared in the ARIA Charts Top Ten, including their previous LP Good Mood (#5 Feb. ’18).

Sydney singer-songwriter Ruel releases his third EP, Bright Lights, Red Eyes. The 2018 ARIAs Breakthrough Artist winner hit the Top Three last year with his previous EP, Free Time (#3 Sept. ’19).

5 Seconds Of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin goes solo, releasing the album Superbloom. Earlier in the year, Irwin topped the Albums Chart with the fourth 5SOS album, CALM (#1 Apr. ’20).

British virtual band Gorillaz return with seventh album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez. The release features an all-star list of collaborators including Robert Smith (The Cure), Elton John, Beck, St Vincent, Peter Hook (New Order) and Schoolboy Q.

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante releases his eleventh solo album, Maya. Dedicated to his late cat, it’s Frusciante’s first electronic album released under his own name. In 2019 Frusciante rejoined the Red Hot Chili Peppers after a decade out of the band.

Come back Saturday to see where these albums will land in next week's ARIA Albums Chart.
