R.I.P. Bill Putt

(28 March 1947 – 7 August 2013)

The ARIA community would like to express its sadness at the passing of musician and songwriter Bill Putt at the age of 66.

Putt was one of the founding members of Melbourne progressive rock band Spectrum and, along with Mike Rudd, remained a member throughout the band’s original career (1969-1973). The duo continued their musical partnership in a number of other acts including The Indelible Murtceps, Ariel, Mike Rudd's Instant Replay, Mike Rudd & The Heaters and W.H.Y.

Rudd and Putt reformed Spectrum as Spectrum Play The Blues in 1999, releasing several albums before reverting to the Spectrum name. Spectrum have released three EPs since 2008.

Our sincere condolences go to the family, friends and fans of Bill Putt.
