Angus and Julia Stone debut at #1

Angus and Julia Stone debut at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with their sixth studio album, “Karaoke Bar”. 

The winners of six ARIA Awards, the duo have landed in the top 10 with all of their albums, reaching #1 in 2010 with “Down The Way” and in 2014 with “Angus & Julia Stone”. The new album is also #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and #2 on the Vinyl Chart. 

Angus and Julia Stone said: “We’re blown away to hear that Karaoke Bar is the #1 album in Australia. We’ve been making music together for such a long time, and to still be able to share new songs and have people connect with them in this way feels incredibly special.

Slovak singer-songwriter Adela is new at #6 with her debut album “Prima”. Her first charted single, “Ain’t In LA”, shoots from #42 to #15 this week. 

English masked metal band President land at #9 with their debut album “Blood of Your Empire”.

South African-born, Melbourne-based singer Ecca Vandal’s second album, “Looking For People To Unfollow”, hits #1 on the Vinyl Chart, #2 on the Australian Albums Chart and re-enters the Albums Chart for a new peak of #12.

Victorian hard rock band Airbourne’s self-titled sixth album is new at #19 on the Albums Chart, #3 on the Australian Albums Chart and #5 on the Vinyl Chart. They reached #21 in 2007 with “Runnin’ Wild”, #19 in 2010 with “No Guts. No Glory”, #17 in 2013 with “Black Dog Barking”, #13 in 2016 with “Breakin’ Outta Hell” and #14 in 2019 with “Boneshaker”. 

Amy and The Sniffers arrive at #23 on the Albums Chart, #4 on the Australian Albums Chart and #4 on the Vinyl Chart with “Truth Or Consequence (Live from El Coyote)”. It’s the first live album from the winners of seven ARIA Awards and was recorded at the El Coyote Café in Los Angeles. It’s their fourth top 30 album: their self-titled debut album reached #22 in 2019 and “Comfort To Me” and “Cartoon Darkness” both peaked at #2 in 2021 and 2024 respectively. 

On the Singles Chart, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” racks up its 13th non-consecutive week at #1. No other country song has spent as many weeks on top: its closest rival for that title, Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”, ruled for eight weeks in 2023, while Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart” was #1 for seven weeks in 1992.

Several tracks reach or hold at new peaks this week, including Tame Impala’s “Loser” at #7, Temper City’s “Self Aware” at #10, Sienna Spiro’s “Great Expectation” at #13 and Zara Larsson’s 2025 song “Midnight Sun” at #17. 

While Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” continues to dominate the On Replay Albums Chart, the announcement of Bruno Mars’ Australian tour in February and March next year sends his 2010 album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” to #2. His current album, “The Romantic”, climbs from #14 to #11 on the main albums chart; it peaked at #2 in March this year.

Two tracks from “The Romantic” jump back up the main singles chart: “Risk It All” is up from #38 to #19 (it reached #13 earlier year) and former #8 peaker “I Just Might” from #36 to #27.

The Killers’ 2003 track “Mr Brightside” rises back to #1 on the On Replay Singles Chart, with Bruno’s “Locked Out Of Heaven” (a #4 hit in 2012) right behind it at #2.
