Since 1996, Australia has had a voluntary code which provides a framework for advising consumers about potentially explicit or unsuitable content on recorded music products (i.e. CDs, vinyl records and cassettes). This code is called the Labelling Code of Practice for Recorded Music Product Containing Potentially Offensive Lyrics and/or Themes (the Code).
The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) is the international identification system for sound recordings and music video recordings. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier for a specific recording which can be permanently encoded into a product as its digital fingerprint.
ARIA provides licences on behalf of participating sound recording and music video rights holders (ARIA Licensors) to individuals and organisations who wish to make legitimate reproductions (copies) of sound recordings and music videos for specific limited purposes (such as commercial background music suppliers).
