Big moves by Illy, Anne-Marie, Ariana Grande and more!
American electronic trio Major Lazer has debuted at #1 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart with their new single ‘Cold Water’ (see below for more info).
After becoming Illy’s first top ten last week, ‘Papercuts’ has made the jump from #8 to #2 in its third week in the top 50.
A move of two spots for ‘Alarm’ has given Anne-Marie her first ever top ten single. Previous single ‘Do It Right’ peaked at #22 in May.
This week’s Singles Chart also sees moves form Ariana Grande’s ‘Into You’ (up seven to #11), Usher’s ‘Crash’ (up three to #17), Kent Jones’ ‘Don’t Mind’ (up seven to #19), DJ Mustard’s ‘Don’t Hurt Me’ (up eight to #20), MØ’s ‘Final Song’ (up nine to #26), Sia’s ‘Cheap Thrills’ (up eight to #28) and Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ (up 15 to #33).
Debuts:
#1: Major Lazer Feat. Justin Bieber & MØ ‘Cold Water’ – With the first single from their forthcoming fourth album Music Is the Weapon, American electronic trio Major Lazer has scored their second #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The group’s first chart appearance since ‘Be Together’ (#33 Nov. ’15) comes just over a year on from their first #1, ‘Lean On’ (#1 Apr. ’15). As well as being co-written by track’s featured artists, Justin Bieber and MØ, one of the other co-writers is Ed Sheeran.
#39: Mike Perry ‘The Ocean’ – Swedish DJ/producer Mike Perry makes his top 50 debut with ‘The Ocean’. Perry, whose real name is Mikael Persson, produces music alongside his day job, which is servicing Volvo diesel car engines in Skövde, Sweden.
#42: Jonas Blue ‘Perfect Strangers’ – After topping the chart with ‘Fast Car’ (#1 Feb. ’16), British producer Jonas Blue returns to the top 50 with ‘Perfect Strangers’. Like its predecessor, the single has peaked at #2 in the UK.
