Dune Rats become first Aussie #1 for 2020

Debuts by Chillinit, Louis Tomlinson and more!

Returning with Hurry Up And Wait, Brisbane trio Dune Rats take out their second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and become the first local act to top the chart this year (more below).
 
Following the release of her Netflix documentary Miss Americana, Taylor Swift has moved up eight to #7 with Lover. She’s also back in the Top 50 at #31 and #32 with 1989 and Reputation, respectively.
 
James Blunt’s sixth studio album races back into the Top 50 following his promotional visit to Australia during the week. Once Upon A Mind debuted at #5 in November 2019. Blunt returns to our shores in this November for a national tour.
 
Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You climbs back 13 places to #21, two spots below its previous peak.

#1: Dune Rats ‘Hurry Up And Wait’ – Brisbane’s Dune Rats become the first Australian act to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2020 as they notch up their second #1 album with Hurry Up And Wait. The garage punk trio’s third LP comes three years on from their first #1, The Kids Know It’s Bullshit (#1 Feb. ’17). The single ‘No Plans’ snuck into the Triple J Hottest 100 at #100. The live circuit favourites will be touring nationally in February/March in support of the album. Hurry Up And Wait has also topped this week’s Vinyl Albums Chart.
 
#2: Chillinit ‘The Octagon’ – Chillinit picks up his first appearance in the ARIA Top Ten with The Octagon. The Sydney rapper’s second album follows on from his 2018 debut Women Weed & Wordplay (#18 Nov. ’19). Chillinit, aka Blake James Turnell, grew up in the Sydney suburb of Hurstville. Starting out in the local underground hip-hop scene, Chillinit has built a devoted fanbase through his social media channels. He was the first Australian artist to appear on iconic UK hip hop radio show Fire In The Booth.
 
#6: Louis Tomlinson ‘Walls’ – Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson releases his debut solo album Walls. The album comes four years on from Tomlinson’s former group entering a hiatus. He becomes the last One Direction member to release a solo album. Tomlinson previously made his Singles Chart debut with ‘Back To You’ (#11 Aug. ’17).
 
#13: Meghan Trainor ‘Treat Myself’ – American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor returns with her first album in four years Treat Myself. Trainor’s third album features collaborations with The Pussycat Dolls, Nicki Minaj and more. She’s also charted withthe albums Title (#1 Jan. ’15) and Thank You (#3 May ’16).
 
#26: Kesha ‘High Road’ – American singer-songwriter Kesha releases High Road. Her fourth studio album is the first since Rainbow (#3 Aug. ’17), her highest chart peak to date. It becomes her fifth title to hit the ARIA Top 50.
 
#44: Russ ‘Shake The Snow Globe’ – American rapper/producer Russ take his second entry in the ARIA Top 50 with Shake The Snow Globe. The follow-up to Zoo (#43 Sept. ’18) is Russ’ 13th studio album and third for a major label.
