It’s week five at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for Elton John and Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’. It’s now one week away from equaling the run at #1 by John’s previous chart-topper ‘Something About the Way You Look Tonight’ / ‘Candle in the Wind 1997’ (#1 Oct. ’97).
After topping the Singles Chart in 2018, 2019 and 2020, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ falls one short in its bid to make it four chart-topping years in a row.
This week’s chart is bursting with festive tunes, including Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ (#9), Michael Bublé’s ‘It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas’ (#10), Ariana Grande’s ‘Santa Tell Me’ (#12), Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s ‘Merry Christmas’ (#16), Brenda Lee’s ‘Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree’ (#17), Bobby Helms’ ‘Jingle Bell Rock‘ (#24), Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It's Christmas?’ (#27), Sia’s ‘Snowman’ (#29), Michael Bublé’s ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ (#30), The Ronettes’ ‘Sleigh Ride’ (#32), Justin Bieber’s ‘Mistletoe’ (#36), Andy Williams’ ‘It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year’ (#37), Paul Kelly’s ‘How To Make Gravy’ (#41), Jam Mountain Music’s ‘Light A Candle’ (#43), Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Underneath The Tree’ (#44), John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band’s ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ (#46) and LadBaby’s ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ (#48).
The week’s only debut in the Top 50 comes from British duo LadBaby and their track ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’. It’s a comedy version of Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s ‘Merry Christmas’ and was recorded in collaboration with their pair. Proceeds from the track go towards UK foodbank charity The Trussell Trust. LadBaby are aiming to become the first act in UK charts history to secure four consecutive Christmas #1 singles.
