Fontaines D.C. and Tate McRae land first chart toppers

Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. score their first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart as “Dopamine Chamber” arrives at the summit, while three Aussie acts debut in the Top 20.

“Dopamine Chamber” is the fifth studio album from Fontaines D.C. and their fourth time in the top 50, following “A Hero’s Death” – which reached #26 in 2020 – “Skinty Fia” (#24 in 2022) and “Romance” (#6 in 2024). The new album also tops the Vinyl Chart.

Zach Bryan arrives at #4 with his new EP, “Young Manhood And Other Donatable Organs”. It’s the American country singer’s fourth top 50 appearance: he reached #2 in 2023 with “Zach Bryan”, #14 in 2024 with “The Great American Bar Scene” and #4 earlier this year with “With Heaven On Top”. The lead track from the EP, “Lies” featuring Lana Del Ray, debuts at #12 on the singles chart.

Melbourne electronic music group The Avalanches’ fourth album, “No Bad Memories”, debuts at #5 and #1 on the Australian Albums Chart. It’s their fourth top 10 result: “Since I Left You” climbed to #5 in 2000, “Wildflower” spent one week at #1 in 2016 and “We Will Always Love You” peaked at #4 in 2020. The group has won four ARIA Awards and is nominated in the Best Video category for this year’s awards on 18 November.

NSW alt rock band The Rubens are back with their sixth album and sixth top 10 result in a row, as “Group Therapy” debuts at #6 on the main albums chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart. The winners of two ARIA Awards, they hit #3 in 2012 with their self-titled debut, #2 in 2015 with “Hoops”, #3 in 2018 with “Lo La Ru”, #1 for one week in 2021 with “0202” and #4 in 2024 with “Soda”.

Legendary Aussie singer Tina Arena returns to the albums chart with her 14th release, “Way Of The World”, which debuts at #11; it also lands at #3 on the Vinyl Chart and #4 on the Australian Albums Chart.

Tina’s chart history spans nine top 10 albums, including two that went to #1: “Don’t Ask” in 1994 and “In Deep” in 1997. She has sold more than 11 million records worldwide, won six ARIA Awards and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2015.

San Jose singer Ashe is new at #13 with her fourth album, “The Girl Of Your Dreams”. It’s her first time on the albums chart. Lead track “Stop The Wedding” climbs to a new peak of #7 on the singles chart.

Ziggy Alberts’ “Twin Flames” is new at #28. It’s the Queensland singer’s seventh studio album, four of which have reached the top 50. “Laps Around The Sun” peaked at #9 in 2018, “Searching For Freedom” got to #27 in 2021 and “New Love” reached #18 in 2025.

On the ARIA Singles Chart, Canada’s Tate McRae earns her first #1 and sixth top 10 single, as “Housewife” debuts on top. It’s the lead single from her upcoming fourth album. Until now, her best chart result was “Greedy”, which peaked at #2 in 2023.

The release of a new version with Chappel Roan sends Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations” rocketing from #78 to #2. Lifted from Olivia’s current album “You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love” (which has spent six weeks at #1 and is at #2 this week), “Expectations” reached #14 when the album dropped in June this year. Olivia and Chappell have now racked up 15 and four top 10 hits respectively.

“Flower In A Hurricane”, an all-star collaboration by Justice, Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, debuts at #43. The track features in the launch trailer for “Grand Theft Auto VI”. French duo Justice (Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay) composed the entire score for the game, which will be released on 19 November.

Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” reclaims pole position on the On Replay Albums Chart, while The Killers’ “Mr Brightside” sticks at #1 on the singles chart.
