Olivia Dean’s chart rule rolls on

Olivia Dean’s second album, The Art Of Loving, holds at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the third non-consecutive week. Nine female artists have landed #1 albums this year: Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Tate McRae, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Taylor Swift and Olivia. 

Olivia also racks up five consecutive weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with Man I Need. She is the fourth solo female artist to score a #1 single this year, joining Lola Young (Messy), Doechii (Anxiety) and Taylor Swift (The Fate Of Ophelia). Rosé spent seven weeks on top with APT., her duet with Bruno Mars (plus seven weeks in 2024), while the fictitious girl group HUNTR/X (Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami) from KPop Demon Hunters ruled for 10 weeks with Golden. 

The 50th anniversary edition of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here debuts at #5 on the Albums Chart and #1 on the Vinyl Chart. The original spent four weeks at #1 in 1975 and was the first of their four #1 albums. They also topped the chart with The Wall in 1979, The Division Bell in 1994 and Pulse in 1995. The new version also lands at #1 on the On Replay Albums Chart this week.

Sydney folk band Boy & Bear’s sixth studio album, Tripping Over Time, is new at #13. The winners of five ARIA Awards, they reached #2 in 2011 with Moonfire, #1 in 2013 with Harlequin Dream, #1 in 2015 with Limit Of Love, #7 in 2019 with Suck On Light and #4 in 2023 with Boy & Bear. 

Benjamin Stewart’s second solo album, Junkdrawers, debuts at #48. The Melbourne-based singer and producer reached #56 last year with Pushing Daylight.

Christmas takes over the On Replay Singles Chart. Mariah Carey’s 1994 festive season classic All I Want For Christmas Is You holds at #1 (it just became the longest running #1 single ever in the US, with 20 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard chart). 

The festive season owns the entire top six: Wham! sit at #2 behind Mariah with Last Christmas followed by Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree at #3, Bobby Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock at #4, Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me at #5 and Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath The Tree at #6.
