Petal blossoms at #1

Ariana Grande returns to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with “Petal”. 

It’s Ari’s eighth studio album and sixth to hit the summit, following “My Everything” in 2014, “Dangerous Woman” in 2016, “Sweetener” in 2018, “Thank U, Next” in 2019 and “Eternal Sunshine” in 2024. She and Cynthia Erivo also went to #1 last year with the soundtrack to “Wicked: For Good”. “Petal” also takes the #1 spot on the Vinyl Chart. 

Perth band DICE debut at #13 on the Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian Albums Chart with “I Thought The Altitude Would Make It Worth The View”. It’s their second album; they reached #27 in 2024 with “Midnight Zoo”. 

Aussie dance music trio PNAU’s “AHHCade” arrives at #33 on the Albums Chart and #3 on the Australian Albums Chart. The winners of three ARIA Awards, the group has released nine albums, reaching #31 in 2007 with “PNAU”, #13 in 2011 with “Soft Universe”, #40 in 2012 with “Good Morning To The Night” (with Elton John) and #11 in 2017 with “Changa”. 

Off the back of her Melbourne shows last weekend and ahead of her Sydney shows commencing tonight at Oxford Art Factory, English singer Erin LeCount debuts at #29 with “Pareidolia”, her third EP.

Montana duo Buffalo Traffic Jam (Nathan Ross and Frankie Cassidy) are new at #31 on the Albums Chart and #5 on the Vinyl Chart with their debut album “Pictures Of You”.

On the Singles Chart, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” takes the #1 spot on the singles chart for the ninth non-consecutive week. Only Olivia Dean has spent more weeks at #1 this year, with 18 weeks from “Man I Need” and “Rein Me In” (with Sam Fender). 

The release of “Petal” sends Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” back to the #2 peak it achieved in May, up from #6 last week. She also debuts at #5 with the album’s title track, lifting her tally of top 10 singles to 22 (including collaborations). Another 10 tracks from the album arrive in the top 50 this week

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” holds firm at #1 on the ARIA On Replay Albums Chart and its second single, “Billie Jean”, stays at #1 on the On Replay Singles Chart. The lead single from “Thriller” was the Michael Jackson-Paul McCartney duet “The Girl Is Mine”, which peaked at #4 on the main ARIA singles chart in 1982.
