Perth’s Tame Impala become the second Australian act to top the ARIA Albums Chart in 2020 as they debut at #1 with The Slow Rush (more below).
Queen experience a significant boost on this week’s chart on the back of their national tour and their appearance at the Fire Fight benefit concert. The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack jumps back into the Top Ten at #7, while Greatest Hits and The Platinum Collection re-enter the chart at #18 and #35, respectively.
In its 40th week in the Top 50, Lewis Capaldi’s debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent moves up four to #12. This week, the Scottish singer-songwriter won Song Of The Year and Best New Artist at the Brit Awards.
Adelaide’s Hilltop Hoods also get a boost post-Fire Fight, with two former #1 albums re-appearing in the Top 50: The Great Expanse at #31 and Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung at #44.
Thanks to their current national tour, Tool’s Fear Inoculum re-enters the chart at #41.
Also playing at Fire Fight, Conrad Sewell returns at #45 with former #1 Life.

#1: Tame Impala ‘The Slow Rush’ – Two-time ARIA Album Of The Year winners Tame Impala claim their second #1 on the Albums Chart with fourth album The Slow Rush. It’s the first studio release from the Perth act fronted by songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Kevin Parker since their first #1 Currents (Jul. ’15). Between Tame Impala albums, Parker contributed to Lady Gaga’s Joanne (#2 Oct. ’16), Kanye West’s ye (#1 Jun. ’18) and Travis Scott’s Astroworld (#1 Aug. ’18), as well as co-producing Pond’s The Weather (#33 May ’17) and Tasmania (#15 Mar. ’19).
#2: Justin Bieber ‘Changes’ – Returning with Changes, his first album in five years, Justin Bieber takes out his sixth Top Ten on the ARIA Albums Chart. The follow-up to Purpose (#1 Nov. ’15) includes collaborations with Quavo, Post Malone, Kehlani, Travis Scott and more. Changes features the singles ‘Yummy’ (#4 Jan. 20), ‘Intentions’ (#3 Feb. ’20), and the newly-charted ‘Forever’ (#29 Feb. ’20).
