Taylor Swift comes back for an encore

The release of “The Encore” edition of Taylor Swift’s “The Life Of A Showgirl” sends it flying from #23 last week back to #1, while Julia Jacklin debuts in the top 5.

Taylor Swift’s four new tracks from “The Encore” take four of the top five spots on the singles chart, led by “Patient Zero”, which lands at #1. It’s Taylor’s 15th chart-topper and second this year: “I Knew It, I Knew You” spent one week at #1 in June.

Taylor is also at #3 with “Cleveland!”, #4 with “Babylon” and #5 with “Pink Clouding”, while the lead single from the album last year, “The Fate of Ophelia”, steps back up from #14 to #10 (it spent six weeks at #1 in October and November). She has now racked up 69 top 10 singles.

Julia Jacklin takes the #5 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart, #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and #1 on the Vinyl Chart, with her new album “The Gem”; it’s Jacklin’s fourth studio album following “Don’t Let The Kids Win”, which peaked at #42 in 2016, “Crushing” (#8 in 2019) and “Pre Pleasure” (#2 in 2022).

Nessa Barret debuts at #7 with “Tough Love”, her third studio album and first time in the top 50.

Nothing But Thieves debut at #9 with “Stray Dogs”. It’s the English rock band’s fifth album; their best performer here before now was “Moral Panic”, which got to #8 in 2020.

Tinashe rounds out the top 10 with “Popular” at #10. It’s her eighth studio album and her first top 50 appearance.

American singer-songwriter Leon Bridges’ fifth studio album, “Happiness Anytime”, arrives at #12. It’s his third visit to the top 10: “Coming Home” climbed to #8 in 2015 and “Good Thing” also reached #8 in 2018.

Aussie legend Shannon Noll debuts at #14 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart with his seventh studio album “The Road In Front Of Me”. All seven have landed in the top 20, including two chart toppers: “That’s What I’m Talking About” in 2004 and “Lift” in 2005.

The 30th anniversary edition of Alice In Chains’ “MTV Unplugged” re-enters at #15. The original version peaked at #12 in 1996. The iconic US rock band previously racked up three top 10 albums: “Jar Of Flies/Sap” (#2 in 1994), “Alice In Chains” (#5 in 1995) and “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here” (#10 in 2013).

Melbourne-based New Zealand heavy rock band Banks Arcade’s “Second Place Superstar” is new at #26. It’s their second album and first ARIA chart appearance.
