U2 - Zooropa
Irish megaband U2 took out the fourth of their eleven #1s on the ARIA Albums Chart when Zooropa spent four weeks in the top spot July/August 1993. Recorded between legs of the world tour in support of Achtung Baby (#1 Nov. ’91), Zooropa held #1 for its first four weeks on the chart before going on to spend 17 weeks in the Top Ten and 47 weeks in the Top 50.
The three singles released from Zooropa all charted in the Top Ten: ‘Numb’ (#7 Aug. ’93), ‘Lemon’ (#6 Nov. ’93) and ‘Stay (Faraway So Close)’ (#5 Feb. ’94).
Zooropa was accredited 3x Platinum and hit #9 on the 1993 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.
U2 have also topped the ARIA Albums Chart with The Unforgettable Fire (#1 Oct. ’84), Rattle And Hum (#1 Oct. ‘88), Achtung Baby (#1 Nov. ‘91), Pop (#1 Mar. ‘97), The Best Of 1980 – 1990 (#1 Nov. ‘98), All That You Can't Leave Behind (#1 Nov. ‘00), The Best Of 1990 – 2000 (#1 Nov. ‘02), How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (#1 Nov. ‘04), U218 Singles (#1 Nov. ‘06) and No Line On The Horizon (#1 Nov. ‘09). Along with Madonna and Jimmy Barnes, they hold the record for most #1s on the Albums Chart (1983-present).
The band last charted with Songs Of Experience (#5 Dec. ’17).

UB40 - (I CAN'T HELP) FALLING IN LOVE With You
British reggae band UB40 dominated the top of the ARIA Singles Chart when their version of their version of ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ spent seven straight weeks at #1 during July and August 1993. The first single release from UB40’s tenth studio album Promises And Lies (#1 Aug. ’93) debuted at #27 in mid-June and hit the top spot for the first time in its fourth week in the top 50. In total, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ spent 12 weeks in the top ten and 20 weeks in the top 50
Topping the charts in the US, Canada, the UK and many other countries, UB40’s version of ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ was #5 in the 1993 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. It was accredited 2x Platinum.
It was UB40’s second #1 single in Australia; ‘I Got You Babe’, a duet with Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders spent three weeks on top in October/November 1985.
Originally recorded by Elvis Presley in 1961, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’ has also been recorded by the many artists including U2, The Triffids, Doris Day, Bob Dylan, Rick Astley, Kenny Rogers and Kamahl.
UB40 last hit the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Higher Ground’ (#40 Oct. ’93).
