ARIA Welcomes Support Act Funding

ARIA welcomes the news that music industry charity Support Act will receive a $10 million funding package from the Australian Government.

Support Act is the only organisation that exists solely to deliver crisis relief services to performing artists, musicians, road crew, songwriters and other music industry workers. This funding will allow Support Act to increase its capacity immediately and help more people now, including through the expansion of its 24/7 Wellbeing Help Line.

Says ARIA CEO Dan Rosen:

“Support Act has been instrumental in helping musicians and music workers in 8mes of crisis, and their work has never been more important. The music industry was one of the first to be hit by the impact COVID19, with workers seeing their livelihoods evaporate overnight. This funding package will provide much needed support and I applaud the Government for their ac8ons today.”

Along with the already announced JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments, the new funding will help provide a safety net to help support music industry workers through these difficult times.

ARIA thanks the Australian Government, Mr McCormack and Mr Fletcher. We will continue to work with the Government to ensure the short and long term health of the Australian Music industry.
