#NewMusicFriday: King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Sheppard, Nick Cave and more out now

It's #NewMusicFriday! Here's what's out this week.

Melbourne psych-rock monsters King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard release their 17th studio album, L.W. Coming three months on from K.G. (#9 Dec. ’20), it could give them their 12th Top Ten album on the ARIA Charts.

Three years on from topping the Albums Chart with Watching The Sky, Brisbane’s Sheppard release Kaleidoscope Eyes. Their third album comes after they released a new song every month in 2020.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis release the duo album Carnage. The long-time collaborators have previously released a number of soundtracks together including The Proposition, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Road.

Alice Cooper releases Detroit Stories. The shock rock veteran’s 21st solo album includes covers of tracks by The Velvet Underground and Bob Seger and is a homage to the city Cooper was born in.

British metalcore band Architects release For Those That Wish to Exist. Their ninth studio album could give them their third straight Top Ten entry. It includes collaborations with members of Parkway Drive, Royal Blood and Biffy Clyro.

American rock band Of Mice & Men release the new EP Timeless. It’s their first release since 2019’s Earthandsky. They’ll be aiming for their first ARIA Top 50 entry since 2015.

Julien Baker returns with third studio album, Little Oblivions. Between 2017’s Turn Out The Lights and the new release, Baker was a member of indie supergroup Boygenius alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2018.

Neil Young dips into his legendary vault again for the live album Way Down in the Rust Bucket. Featuring Young’s most well-known backing band, Crazy Horse, the set was recorded in 1990 as the band warmed up for their tour in support of the album Ragged Glory.

Country music icon Willie Nelson releases his 71st studio album, That's Life. It’s the second volume of Nelson's tribute albums to Frank Sinatra, following 2018’s My Way.
