The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and YouTube today announced In Conversation: a new event series bringing Australian music fans, aspiring artists and industry professionals closer to some of the world’s biggest acts as they chat exclusively to local legends.

Taking place across iconic Australian venues transformed into comfortable living room settings, the exclusive and intimate series also intends to shine a light on the important issues faced by the industry and the crucial role of services like Support Act.

The first event, in partnership with YouTube, will take place at the Factory Theatre, Tuesday 14 June and feature UK pop megastars The Wombats in conversation with local phenom Jack River.

Together for the first time since 2019, Jack and The Wombats will discuss everything from their experiences starting out in the music industry to their longstanding friendship.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Support Act, Australia's music industry charity providing relief to musicians, managers, crew and music workers left unable to work due to ill health, injury, mental health issues or crisis interruption.

The Wombats’ singer and guitarist, Murph, said: “Holly featured on one of the tracks from my Love Fame Tragedyrecord in 2020, and absolutely nailed it! It was so great working with her, so we are thrilled that she will be hosting the In Conversation event for such a great cause, with proceeds going to Support Act. We can’t wait to see all of our Australian fans at the shows, and hope to see some of them for this special night of In Conversation

Jack River said: “Murph is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and one of the most talented songwriters in the world. I can’t wait to hear some stories from the road from him and the band and chat about the hell that was lockdown!”

CEO of ARIA, Annabelle Herd, said: “ARIA is determined to help find new and unique ways to bring Australian music back to the global stage after years of interruption. In Conversation is a fantastic way to invite the biggest acts from around the globe into our home, and help share their knowledge and passion with generations of fans, artists and industry professionals.

“We are very proud to present a resource outside of live shows and in a more intimate environment that can shine a light on the issues our industry faces locally and abroad. We are also extremely excited to welcome none other than The Wombats and Jack River to kick things off.”

The Wombats will also be touring throughout June in celebration of their latest album Fix Yourself, Now The World – tickets here.
