2020 Best Male Artist ARIA Award nominees

From multiple ARIA Award-winners to newcomers, and with ages ranging from 17 to 64, this year's nominees for Best Male Artist are a truly mixed bunch. Here are the men in contention.

Archie Roach - Tell Me Why

A legend of Australian music, Archie Roach has won five ARIA Awards from 15 previous nominations, but this is his first nod for Best Male Artist. This year he will also contend for Best Independent Release and Best Adult Contemporary Album for his ninth studio album Tell Me Why, a reimiagining of songs from Roach's career that accompanied the release of his memoir. The record peaked at #7 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Guy Sebastian - Standing With You

Prior to 2020, Guy Sebastian had been nominated for a staggering 32 ARIA Awards, including seven nods for Best Male Artist. Of his six ARIA Award wins, however, none have been in this category. Sebastian's 24th ARIA Top 50 single, 'Standing With You' peaked at #10 and has also earned a nomination for Best Video presented by YouTube Music.

Ruel - Free Time

At just 17, Ruel is already an ARIA Award winner, having been named Breakthrough Artist in 2018. He was absent from the nominees list in 2019, but returns this year with four nods, including this category and Song Of The Year presented by YouTube Music for his single 'Painkiller'.

The Kid LAROI - F*ck Love

Another 17-year-old hip hop star, The Kid LAROI is a newcomer to the nominees circle, scoring four nominations this year. In addition to Best Male Artist, he has earned nods for Best Hip Hop Release presented by Hennessy and Breakthrough Artist presented by PPCA for his debut album F*ck Love, which peaked at #3.

Troye Sivan - In A Dream

Troye Sivan will be hoping it's third time lucky, having previously been nominated in the Best Male Artist category in 2016 and 2018. Sivan's In A Dream EP peaked at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart, marking his fourth appearance in the Top 10. From 11 ARIA Awards nominations prior to 2020, he has won twice, collecting Song Of The Year and Best Video in 2016 for his single 'Youth'.
