With only six more sleeps until the 2018 ARIA Awards with Apple Music, we are thrilled to announce that British singer-songwriter George Ezra whose smash hit ‘Shotgun’ was the Number One song on the ARIA Chart for 5 weeks will be performing at the 2018 ARIA Awards with Apple Music. You can catch the Awards ceremony from The Star, Sydney on Wednesday 28th November, broadcast on the Nine Network. Fans can also preview all the action on the ARIARed Carpet presented by Swarovski and hosted by Tanya Hennessy and Angus O’Loughlin from 2:00 pm AEDT live on Twitter.
George Ezra says, “I’m very honored and flattered to be invited to return to Australia to play the 2018 ARIA Awards with Apple Music. I’ve been preparing a very special performance of “Shotgun” for you guys, and I’m so excited to share it with you. Hopefully, I will see you all there!”
Dan Rosen, ARIA Chief Executive says, “Off the back of his smash hit Shotgun, that spent 5 weeks at #1 on the ARIA Charts, we are thrilled to welcome George Ezra to Sydney to join us in celebrating the 2018 ARIAs with a very special performance. Fans are in for a treat.”
George Ezra most recently launched his way to the top of the ARIA singles chart with his 3x Platinum accredited hit ‘Shotgun’, becoming his first ever #1 single in Australia where it spent 5 consecutive weeks in the top spot, as well as 4 consecutive weeks at #1 on The Music Network’s Airplay Chart. Since release, it has accumulated over 23 million streams and 40,000 downloads in Australia alone. Taken from his highly acclaimed sophomore album STAYING AT TAMARA’S released in March this year, the track has also officially been named the biggest song of the summer in the UK by the Official Charts Company.
In his weekly newsletter from his US tour last month, George stated, “I’ve been receiving bits of news from back home, ‘Shotgun’ is absolutely flying over in Australia & New Zealand which is the most exciting news imaginable. Our last shows over there were brilliant (if I may say so myself), for those of you reading this down-under, this kid loves ya.”
In a little more than eighteen months, George’s debut album WANTED ON VOYAGE took him from being a virtually unknown artist to one of the most recent international breakthrough artists: hitting the Top 10 Album charts in 10 countries, three sold-out UK tours, four BRIT nominations, one BBC Music award and an Ivor Novello Award.
In Australia, WANTED ON VOYAGEis certified Platinum and landed in top 5 on the ARIA Album Charts, and in addition, his smash hit ‘Budapest’ achieved 5x certified Platinum status, and also reached the Top 5 on the ARIA Charts. The acclaimed singer’s single ‘Blame It On Me’ is certified 2x Platinum and reached the Top 10 ARIA Singles Chart.
