Alex Warren’s wild debut

Alex Warren takes the #1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart with “Wildchild”, while Paul Kelly comes in at #2 and Ocean Sleeper make it two Aussie debuts in the top 10. 

“Wildchild” also lands at #1 on the Vinyl Chart. It is Alex’s second album; his first, “You’ll Be Alright, Kid” peaked at #2 last year and rises from #11 to #5 this week. 

The release of the deluxe edition of Paul Kelly’s “Seventy” sees it roar back onto the Albums Chart at #2 and the Australian Albums Chart at #1. It peaked at #2 in November last year, becoming his 14th top 10 album. The winner of 16 ARIA Awards, Paul was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997.

Elsewhere on the Chart, Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls’ 1986 album “Gossip” returns at #30. It originally peaked at #15 in October 1986. 

US heavy metal band Mastodon are new at #6 on the Albums Chart and #2 on the Vinyl Chart with their ninth studio album, “Marrow Deep”. It’s their seventh top 50 album; they previously reached the top 10 with “Once More ‘Round The Sun” (#3 in 2014) and “Emperor Of Sand” (#7 in 2017). 

Victorian metalcore band Ocean Sleeper debut at #7 on the Albums Chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart with “Peace When I’m Dead”. It’s their second album and first chart appearance.  

Aussie country stars Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley’s “Souls On Show” arrives at #12. It’s the married couple’s third album together: “Adam & Brooke” reached #16 in 2018 and “Up, Down & Sideways” got to #26 in 2023. 

As part of The McClymonts, Brooke won two ARIA Awards and scored six top 40 albums. Their best performers were “Wrapped Up Good”, which climbed to #2 in 2010, “Endless” (#3 in 2017) and “Mayhem To Madness” (#3 in 2020).   

Brisbane-born Jem Cassar-Daley is new at #18 with “Tattoos Used To Come Off In The Pool”, her debut studio album. She is the daughter of country singer Troy Cassar-Daley and TV presenter Laurel Edwards. 

On the Singles Chart, Ella Langley scores her 12th non-consecutive week at #1 with “Choosin’ Texas”. It’s the second song this year to rule the chart for more than 10 weeks: Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” was #1 for 18 weeks (and the final six weeks of 2025). “Choosin’ Texas” has been #1 on the Billboard 100 in the US for 20 weeks, a record for a non-Christmas song. 

The death of Dolly Parton on 25 August sends her 1980 hit “9 To 5” to #1 on the On Replay Singles Chart; it peaked at #9 on the main singles chart. Dolly is also at #2with “Jolene” (first released in 1973) and #3 with her Kenny Rogers duet “Islands In The Stream” (it spent one week at #1 on the main singles chart in 1983). 

“The Best Of Dolly Parton” is at #3 on the On Replay Albums Chart behind Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at #1.
