Debuts for Delta Goodrem, Charlie Puth, Bad Wolves and more!
British indie band Arctic Monkeys debut at #1 on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart with their sixth studio album and first in five years, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (more below).
With The Greatest Showman recently released on DVD, the film’s soundtrack has received a boost. It’s up one spot to #2 this week.
Following a week of promo in support of the album, Keith Urban’s Graffiti U moves up from #4 to #3.
As Imagine Dragons hit the halfway point of their Australian tour, Evolve, the band’s third album, jumps back up ten spots to #12. The album peaked at #4 in July 2017.
In its 157th week in the Top 50, Taylor Swift’s 1989 jumps back up 20 spots to #18.
The soundtrack to Fifty Shades Freed also receives a DVD released-related lift. This week it’s up 17 to #25.
The week’s highest re-entry comes from Adele’s 25. The former #1 is back in the Top 50 at #32. It’s the album’s 122nd week in the chart.
#1: Arctic Monkeys ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ – Returning with their sixth album, British indie band Arctic Monkeys take out their third #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is the quartet’s first album since AM (#1 Sept. ’13). They first topped the Albums Chart with debut Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (#1 Feb. ’06). Between Arctic Monkeys releases, front man Alex Turner charted with Everything You've Come To Expect (#9 Apr. ’16), the second album from his side project The Last Shadow Puppets.
#4: Delta Goodrem ‘I Honestly Love You’ – Delta Goodrem takes on the Olivia Newton-John songbook on I Honestly Love You. The album is the soundtrack to the miniseries Olivia: Hopelessly Devoted To You in which Goodrem portrays Newton-John. Goodrem last charted with Wings Of The Wild (#1 Jul. ’16).
#7: Charlie Puth ‘Voicenotes’ – American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth picks up a second Top Ten album with Voicenotes. Puth’s second studio album comes two years on from Nine Track Mind (#8 Feb. ’16) and includes the singles ‘Attention’ (#10 Jul. ’17) and ‘How Long’ (#17 Dec. ’17), as well as guest appearances by Kehlani, Boyz II Men and James Taylor.
#9: Bad Wolves ‘Disobey’ – After success on the Singles Chart earlier in the year with their cover of The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ (#26 Apr. ’18), metal supergroup Bad Wolves make their Albums Chart with Disobey. Prior to the album’s release, the five-piece released the EPs False Flags, Volume 1 and False Flags, Volume 2 in March and April, respectively.
#14: Various ‘Eurovision Song Contest Lisbon 2018’ – The soundtrack to the Eurovision Song Contest Lisbon 2018 make its Top 50 debut. The double disc set features all 43 tracks entered in this year’s competition including Jessica Mauboy’s entry for Australia, ‘We Got Love’ and the winning entry, ‘Toy’ by Israeli artist Netta. It’s the seventh consecutive year a Eurovision soundtrack has charted. The highest peak to date was with Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Vienna (#4 Jun. ’15).
#39: Beach House ‘7’ – With their seventh studio album, American dream pop duo Beach House pick up a third Top 50 entry. 7 is the follow-up to 2015’s Thank Your Lucky Stars. Beach House previously charted with Bloom (#40 May ’12) and Depression Cherry (#34 Sept. ’15).
#42: Esoterik ‘My Astral Plane’ – Bliss N Eso’s Esoterik goes solo with the EP My Astral Plane. The nine-track release comes a year on from Bliss N Eso’s third successive #1 album, album Off The Grid (#1 May ’17).
#49: Playboi Carti ‘Die Lit’ – Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti makes his ARIA Albums Chart debut with Die Lit. The debut album features appearances from Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Skepta, Travis Scott and more.
