Love is all around the Top Ten from this week in 1994!

10. Kulcha - Shaka Jam

Australian R&B band Shaka Jam’s debut single ‘Kulcha’ is still the duo's most successful song on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track peaked at #7 in July of 1994 and ended up being nominated for the Highest Selling Single Award at the 1995 ARIA Awards.

9. Soundgarden - Black Whole Sun

American Rock band Soundgarden picked up their biggest hit on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘Black Hole Sun’ peaked at #6 in August of 1994. Written by the band’s frontman, the now late Chris Cornell, the song was released in 1994 as the third single from the band's fourth studio album Superunknown (#1 Feb. ’94). It is arguably the band's most recognisable and most popular song, and remains a well-known song from the 1990s.

8. Eternal - Stay

‘Stay’ is the debut single by British girl group Eternal. The track peaked at #3 for two weeks in June/July of 1994 and is still the girls’ highest charting song on the ARIA Singles Chart. They ended up also appearing on the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart with ‘Power Of A Woman’ (#8 April ’96), ‘I Am Blessed’ (#14 April. ’96), ‘Someday’ (#27 Sept. ’96), ‘Don’t You Love Me’ (#25 June ’97) and ‘I Wanna Be The Only One’ (#10 Mar. ’98).

7. All-4-One - I Swear

The only #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for American male R&B and pop group All-4-One came when their cover of John Michael Montgomery’s ‘I Swear’ spent five weeks in the top spot in Aug/Sept 1994. At the time it was their first song to chart on the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart. The only other time that All-4-One have appeared in the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart was when ‘I Can Love You Like That’ peaked at #12 back in October of 1995.

6. Reel 2 Real - I Like To Move

‘I Like to Move It’ is a song by American electronic dance duo Reel 2 Real (Eric Morillo), featuring ragga vocals by Trindad and Tobago rapper The Mad Stuntman (Mark Quashie). The track peaked at #6 and stayed in that positon for six consecutive weeks. It’s still the duo’s only charting track on the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart.

5. Crash Test Dummies - MMM MMM MMM MMM

Canadian folk rock group Crash Test Dummies picked up their only #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘MMM MMM MMM MMM’ the lead single from their second album, God Shuffled His Feet reached the top spot and stayed there for three consecutive weeks in June of 1994.

4. Big Mountain - Baby, I Love Your Way

American band Big Mountain made their only appearance in the ARIA Top 50 when their remake of Peter Frampton’s ‘Baby, I Love Your Way’ peaked at #4 for four non-consecutive weeks in July/August 1994.

3. Crystal Waters - 100% Pure Love

‘100% Pure Love’ is a song recorded by American house musician Crystal Waters. The track ended up peaking at #2 in its 1994 run on the ARIA Singles Chart and is still the artist’s highest charting track on the chart. The only other time that Crystal Waters has appeared in the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart was when ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’ peaked at #11 back in August of 1991.

2. Absolutely Fabulous - Absolutely Fabulous

‘Absolutely Fabulous’ is a song produced by British electronic music group Pet Shop Boys. The song was released as a single for 1994's Comic Relief, under the artist name ‘Absolutely Fabulous’. The song is based on the BBC comedy show of the same name and features sound bites taken from the first series of that show.

1. Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around

The only #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for Scottish band Wet Wet Wet came when their cover of Troggs’ 'Love Is All Around’ spent six weeks in the top spot in the winter of 1994. Wet Wet Wet’s version of the track was included in the soundtrack to the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral.
