ARIA DJ Of The Week: Chusap

Get to know the Brisbane based DJ/Producer.

Brisbane based DJ/Producer Will Chusap has been performing professionally since 2003, releasing his first official song in 2007. During that time, he’s been invited to play all around Australia & South East Asia including venues such as The Ivy (Sydney), Marco Polo - Ivy Pool Club (Sydney - 4 year residency), Chinese Laundry (Sydney), The Argyle (Sydney), Greenwood (Sydney), Family (Brisbane), Sky Garden (Bali), Cocoon (Bali), Qbar (Bangkok), The White Box (Phuket), 21 (Kuala Lumpur) and Boutique (Melbourne), as well as Stereosonic and Future Music Festivals across Australia. He currently resides at local Brisbane venues Cloudland, Soleil Pool Bar, The Fox Rooftop and The Empire Hotel.

Throughout his career he’s had the opportunity to support DJs such as Jamie Jones, Nora En Pure, NERVO, Peking Duk, Tigerlily, Thomas Jack, Yolanda Be Cool, Art Vs Science,Touch Sensitive and The Aston Shuffle. Under the names ”CHUSAP” and "Will Reckless” his productions have scored releases on top labels including Toolroom, Nervous Records, TMRW Music, Onelove and Vicious. His most-prized collaborations include Kryder, Tommie Sunshine, Dave Winnel and Jeremy Joshua (Avon Stringer).

He has gathered support over the years from a number of international producers including Diplo on BBC Radio 1, Tiesto, Axwell & Ingrosso, Porter Robinson, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Don Diablo, Kryder, Danny Howard, EDX, Thomas Gold, Crookers, Judge Jules and many more.

Chusap’s sound derives from his experience, personality and tastes over the years, resulting in a mix of Bass House, Tech House, Funky/Groove Jackin House and Nu-Disco. He’s hit the ground running under his new alias and the response has been nothing but excitement to see how far he can push this new wave.
