Meet the New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based dance music producer.
New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based dance music producer Jolyon Petch hit the #1 spot on the ARIA Club Chart in 2017 with his rendition of Paul Simon's 'You Can Call Me Al' under his Murph & Petch guise with Melbourne producer Andy Murphy of One Love fame. This was the first time any NZ DJ/house music producer has climbed the ranks to claim the top spot on the prestigious Australian club chart. A month later, he topped the Club Chart again with the Murph & Petch remix for Vandalism’s ‘Shiny Disco Balls’, proving that their blends of infectious vocal house music are garnering support from DJs and dancefloors nationally.
Jolyon moved to Australia in 2010 to pursue his music career in a more established industry. He moved from the Gold Coast to Melbourne in 2013, locking in high end club residencies at the top venues in town - Eve, Baroq House, The Emerson, Boutique, Club 23, Hotel Barkley, The Emerald Peacock, Storyville & more.
Performance-wise, Jolyon has headlined DJ shows all over the globe with his record label Club Luxury or on his own, DJing in exotic places such as Cyrpus, Ibiza, Thailand, Bali, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Amsterdam or in bigger countries like Sweden, USA, Russia, UK, Czech Rep, Germany, Poland, NZ and more.
In 2015 he was signed to Vicious Recordings, the same record label that broke International superstars Avicii, Madison Avenue, Peking Duk and The Potbellezz, to name a few. He is now the highest-selling Aussie artist on the label over the last three years. In the space of one year he released two singles that hit the Top 5, with his 'Fast Car' cover taking out the #3 position.
On the remix front, Jolyon's had the opportunity to officially remix some of the best in the business from the likes of the Robin Schulz, Pet Shop Boys, Example, Junior Jack, NERVO Twins, The Freemasons, Ron Carroll through to more commercial acts like Britney Spears & T.I, Carmen Electra, Mel B (Spice Girls) and Bombs Away.
In late 2017 he celebrated his first ever Beatport #1 Dance Singles Chart with 'Otherside'. The track gained spins on BBC Radio 1, plus DJ spins from Tiesto, Chuckie, MistaJam, Timmy Trumpet and more. The record also went to #4 on the Australian Club Chart and was in the Beatport Dance Chart Top 100 for over 200 days.
His music has been supported by dance music's biggest DJs & radio stations from the likes of Pete Tong, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Bob Sinclar, MistaJam (BBC R1), Danny Howard (BBC R1), Kolsch, Claptone, Don Diablo, Oliver Heldens, Gorgon City, Dannic, Judge Jules, Freemasons, Stonebridge & many more.
Jolyon’s current single ‘Make A Move’ is currently flying high on the ARIA Club Chart for its second week at #3, with it also in the mid 20s on the Beatport Future House charts.
