Peking Duk, Kate Miller-Heidke and Phil Jamieson land top 20 albums, Tame Impala scores a second top 10 single

Phoebe builds a bridge to #1

American singer Phoebe Bridgers’ third album, “Lost Weekend”, launches onto the ARIA Albums Chart at #1. Her second album, “Punisher”, reached #12 in 2020 and she hit #3 as part of Boygenius in 2023 with “The Record”.

ARIA Award winners Peking Duk arrive at #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and #6 on the main albums chart with their first studio album, “Paradise”, which includes collaborations with Matt Corby, Nate Husser and Phantogram. Their “Reprisal” EP peaked at #12 in 2018.

British band Jungle are new at #9 with “Sunshine”. It’s their fifth studio album and third top 20 entry: “Jungle” got to #20 in 2014 and “Loving In Stereo” reached #10 in 2021.

Queensland’s Kate Miller-Heidke returns with “The Kiss And The Abyss”, new at #11 (it’s #2 on the Australian Albums Chart). It’s her sixth studio album following “Little Eve” (which peaked at #11 in 2007), “Curiouser” (#2 in 2008), “Nightflight” (#2 in 2012), “O Vertigo!” (#4 in 2014) and “Child In Reverse” (#9 in 2020).

Marilyn Manson’s “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2” debuts at #13; “Chapter 1” stopped at #44 two years ago. It’s their 13th studio album, 10 of which have reached the top 20, including two #1 albums: “Mechanical Animals” in 1998 and “We Are Chaos” in 2020.

Grinspoon singer-guitarist Phil Jamieson’s second solo album, “10Charlie”, steps onto the albums chart at #18; it’s #3 on the Australian Albums Chart. His first album, “Somebody Else”, peaked at #51 in 2022. As part of the ARIA Award winning band, he has racked up nine top 10 albums, including two #2 results: “New Detention” in 2002 and “Alibis & Other Lies” in 2007.

Melbourne’s Grace Cummings debuts at #23 on the main albums chart, #4 on the Australian Albums Chart and #5 on the Vinyl Chart with “Bloodhorse!”. It’s her fourth studio album and first ARIA chart appearance.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s 28th studio album, “Alien Metal”, arrives at #26; it’s also #3 on the Vinyl Chart and #5 on the Australian Albums Chart. The winners of three ARIA Awards, they have now racked up more than 25 top 50 entries across studio and live albums and EPs.

Sydney punk rock band The Hard-Ons are new at #35 with their 16th album, “Hards-Ons/Jerry A”, a collaboration with American punk singer Jerry A. The band climbed to #4 in 2021 with “I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken” and #26 in 2023 with “Ripper ‘23”.

The winners of the People’s Choice award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2024, indie folk and roots duo Sunday Lemonade debut at #43 with their first album, “The Forest To The Sea”.

Ocean Alley’s 2015 EP “In Purple” lands at #50 this week thanks to its release on vinyl. The Sydney rock band have scored three top five albums: “Lonely Diamond” (#3 in 2020), “Low Altitude Living” (#3 in 2022) and “Love Balloon” (#3 in 2025).

On the ARIA Singles Chart, K-pop inspired girl group Katseye grab their first #1 as “Animal” jumps from #13 to the summit. Co-written by Ed Sheeran, the track peaked at #8 last month, slipped and now charges to the top. It’s the US-based group’s biggest hit; until now, their best showing was with “Pinky Up”, which peaked at #19 earlier this year.

Tame Impala collects his second top 10 this year as “Loser” steps up from #11 to #7, fuelled by its use in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (“Dracula” peaked at #4 and is at #17 this week). “Loser” and “Dracula” are #1 and #2 on the Australian Singles Chart this week. 

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” holds at #1 on the ARIA On Replay Albums Chart, while The Killers’ 2003 track “Mr Brightside” rises to the top of the On Replay Singles Chart. It peaked at #19 on the main singles chart.
