Karnivool stage an epic comeback

Perth hard rock band Karnivool storm the chart at #1 with In Verses, their first studio album in 13 years also stands at #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and Vinyl Chart. 

The ARIA Award winners have now visited the top 50 four times: Themata got to #41 in 2005, Sound Awake peaked at #2 in 2009 and Asymmetry spent one week at #1 in 2013. 

On their success, the band said: “We can’t believe it. After 13 years of waiting it’s bloody lovely not to be forgotten, and at such a wild time for music to get a #1 record is pretty amazing. Karnivool as a band has never followed a conventional path, god knows we aren’t even on TikTok, and this album is on our own label through our friends at Sony. So we will raise a glass to our fans, families, Forrester and our friends who worked on the record, and anyone who walks their own path. See you at a show”

Japanese Australian singer Joji is new at #3 with his fourth studio album, Piss In The Wind. He reached #17 in 2018 with Ballads 1, #1 for one week in 2020 with Nectar and #3 in 2022 with Smithereens. The album also sits at #2 on the Australian Albums Chart and Vinyl Chart.

A GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year and his half-time show at Super Bowl LX sends Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS flying from #20 to a new peak of #4, giving the Latin superstar his first top 10 album here. It had previously peaked at #16 last year. 

The lead track from the album, DtMF, cracks the top 50 ARIA Singles Chart for the first time, arriving at #4. He also debuts at #25 with NUEVAYoL and at #34 with BAILE INoLVIDABLE.

Cole’s The Fall-Off debuts at #7. It’s the American rapper’s sixth top 10 album, following 4 Your Eyez Only (#6 in 2016), KOD (#1 for one week in 2018), Revenge Of The Dreamers III with Dreamville (#2 in 2019), The Off-Season (#3 in 2021) and Might Delete Later (#2 in 2024).

Skeleten’s Mentalized debuts at #39. Skeleten is the project of Sydney artist Russell Fitzgibbon, who was one half of 2010s electronic duo Fishing. 

Melbourne pop band Blusher are new at #45 with Racer.

Olivia Dean’s grip on the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart continues, as Man I Need scores its 13th consecutive week on top. It’s the fourth song to spend 13 weeks at #1 since the ARIA charts started in 1983, joining Coolio and L.V.’s Gangsta’s Paradise (1995-96), Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber’s Despacito (2017) and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road (2019). The chart crown is held by Tones and I’s Dance Monkey, which ruled for 24 weeks in 2019-20. 

A new video and a vinyl release sends Taylor Swift’s Opalite flying from #27 back to #7; it peaked at #2 late last year. It’s the second official single from The Life Of A Showgirl: the first, The Fate Of Ophelia, spent six weeks at #1 late last year. 

The release of a new version with BLACKPINK star Jennie pushes Tame Impala’s Dracula from #32 to a new peak of #22; until this week, it had reached #26. 

New Yorker Sombr arrives at #18 with his new track, Homewrecker. It’s his fourth top 50 single since early 2025 following Undressed (peaked at #2), Back To Friends (#3) and 12 To 12 (#6). All three are still in the top 50: 12 to 12 is at #6, Back To Friends at #15 and Undressed at #26. 

Chappell Roan’s star turn at the Laneway festival sends The Rise And Fall Of A Midwestern Princess from #10 to #1 on the ARIA On Replay Albums Chart; it reached #3 on the main albums chart last year. Djo’s End Of Beginning stays at #1 on the On Replay Singles Chart.
