Noah Kahan’s great week

American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan takes the #1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart and ARIA Vinyl Chart with The Great Divide. It’s his fourth studio album and the follow up to Stick Season, which spent three weeks at #1 in early 2024 is #2 on the On Replay Albums Chart this week.

On the singles chart, Noah’s Doors debuts at #16, the title track from The Great Divide jumps from #53 to #20 (it reached #13 earlier this year) and Porch Light climbs from #46 to a new peak of #27. Another eight tracks from the new album debut in top 50. 

Foo Fighters step onto the ARIA Albums Chart at #3 with their 12th album, Your Favourite Toy. All 12 have reached the top 10, with eight going to #1: One By One in 2002, In Your Honor in 2005, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace in 2007, Wasting Light in 2011, Sonic Highways in 2014, Concrete And Gold in 2017, Medicine At Midnight in 2021 and But Here We Are in 2023. They also topped the chart in 2009 with Greatest Hits

Queensland’s The Amity Affliction’s ninth studio album, House Of Cards, is new at #4. It’s their eighth top 10 album in a row, following Youngbloods (#6 in 2010), Chasing Ghosts (#1 in 2012), Let The Ocean Take Me (#1 in 2014), This Could Be The Heartbreak (#1 in 2016), Misery (#1 in 2018), Everyones Loves You…Once You Leave Them (#2 in 2020) and Not Without My Ghost (#2 in 2023). 

The soundtrack from the new Michael Jackson biopic debuts at #17. It’s Jackson’s 24th solo top 50 album, stretching back to Music And Me in 1973 and including the chart toppers Off The Wall (1979), Thriller (1983), Dangerous (1991), HIStory: Past, Present And Future, Book I (1995), Invincible (2001) and The Essential Michael Jackson (2005). Meanwhile, Thriller hits #1 on the ARIA On Replay Albums Chart and Bad jumps to #3; Thriller topped the main albums chart in 1983. 

Fresh from his concerts in Sydney and Melbourne, Japanese guitarist, composer and producer Masayoshi Takanaka is new at #22 with Takanaka Super Live 2025 Black Ship in L.A. He has released more than 20 albums since 1976; this is his first appearance on the Australian albums chart. 

Aussie singer Ruby Fields steps onto the chart at #29 with Small Achievements. Her double EP Your Dad’s Opinion For Dinner/Permanent Hermit reached #26 in 2018 and her album Been Doin’ It For A Bit hit #1 for one week in 2021. 

On the Singles Chart, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In steps back up to #1 for its third non-consecutive week on top.

American country star Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas hits a new peak, up from #8 to #3. 

Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s 2012 hit Beauty And A Beat holds at #1 on the ARIA On Replay Singles Chart after Justin’s now-viral performance on weekend one of Coachella.
