Paul Kelly cleans up across three charts

Taylor Swift’s The Life Of A Showgirl holds at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the sixth straight week, while Paul Kelly returns with his 28th studio album, Seventy, at #2 on the main chart, #1 on the Australian Albums Chart and #1 on the Vinyl Chart.

Paul, who first performed in public at a folk club in Hobart in 1974, has landed in the top 10 14 times with four chart-toppers: Life Is Fine (#1 for one week in 2017), Nature (one week in 2018), Songs From The South: 1985-2019 (one week in 2019), and Paul Kelly’s Christmas Train (one week in 2022).

The recipient of 16 ARIA Awards, Paul was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997. He is the second-most-awarded male singer in the history of the ARIA Awards behind John Farnham, who has 21 trophies. 

The physical release of Sombr’s debut album I Barely Know Her pushes it back up the chart from #13 to #5. It peaked at #4 earlier this year. 

Canberra rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers debut at #9 on the main chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart with their second album, Glory. The winners of the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award at the 2024 ARIA Awards, they reached #6 in 2023 with I Love You

Spanish singer Rosalia’s Lux is new at #15, becoming her first top 50 in Australia and the most-streamed album by a Spanish-speaking female artist in a day on Spotify, with 42.1 million first-day streams. 

Aussie country singer James Blundell comes in at #25 with Patience Wins, his 12th studio album, while WA-born singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly is new at #31 with Love and Fortune. She reached #15 in 2019 with Beware Of The Dogs and #29 in 2022 with Flood

Melbourne’s Cosmic Psychos crack #32 with I Really Like Beer, as we all know, they got to #19 with 2021’s Mountain of Piss. 

Icecream Hands’ Giant Fox Pineapple Tree debuts at #38. It’s the seventh studio album from the Melbourne band and their first top 50 entry.

On the Singles Chart, Taylor Swift’s The Fate Of Ophelia sticks at #1 for the sixth week, tying with Anti-Hero from 2022 to become her longest-running chart-topper. 

With more than 110 million TikTok views, I Run by new UK band Haven debuts at #8. 

After wrapping their Australian tour last Saturday, Oasis takes the top spot on the On Replay Albums Chart with their 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?. They are also at #3 with their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe. On the On Replay Singles Chart, Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris from the City Of Angels soundtrack climbs from #2 to #1. Released in April 1998, it hit #1 on the main ARIA Singles Chart in early August that year and stayed on top for five weeks.
