Olivia Rodrigo reclaims the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart as “You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love” earns its fourth non-consecutive week at #1, while The Rolling Stones land at #2 with their latest studio album, “Foreign Tongues”. Produced by Adam Watt, it includes guest appearances by Sir Paul McCartney and The Cure’s Robert Smith.
Formed in 1962, the Stones have released 30 studio albums and dozens of live and compilation albums. Before the ARIA charts launched in 1988, they topped the Australian chart with “Out Of Our Heads” (1965), “Sticky Fingers” (1971), “Exile On Main Street” (1972), “Goats Head Soup” (1973), “It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll” (1974), “Black and Blue” (1976), “Some Girls” (1978), “Emotional Rescue” (1980) and “Tattoo You” (1981). Since 1988, they have scored six top five albums; their previous one, “Hackney Diamonds”, got to #3 in 2023.
The soundtrack to the hit Canadian drama series “Heated Rivalry” arrives at #3. Featuring Canadian musician Peter Peter and tracks from Wolf Parade, Wet Leg, t.A.T.u. and others, it was released in January this year and lands on the chart this week thanks to the arrival of physical CD and vinyl editions.
Bring Me The Horizon’s “Count Your Blessings Repented” is new at #5 on the Album Chart and #1 on the Vinyl Chart. The album is a re-recording of their debut album to mark its 20th anniversary. The original version didn’t chart here, but they went on to score five top 10 albums: “There Is A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret” (peaked at #1 in 2010), “Sempiternal” (#1 in 2013), “That’s The Spirit” (#1 in 2015), “Amo” (#1 in 2019) and “Post Human: Nex Gen” (#2 in 2024).
Four-times ARIA Award winner The Temper Trap debut at #9 on the Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian Albums Chart with “Sungazer”. They reached #9 in 2009 with “Conditions”, #1 in 2012 with “The Temper Trap” and #1 in 2016 with “Thick As Thieves”.
Jack White’s seventh studio album “Frozen Charlotte” is new at #17. It is his first to break the top 20 since 2018’s “Boarding House Reach”, which peaked at #11. His highest solo chart position here is #2, with 2012’s “Blunderbuss”.
The Velvet Club’s “Are You Falling In Love?” is new at #29 on the Albums Chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart. It’s the Melbourne rock band’s debut full-length album and first appearance on the ARIA chart.
Australian Idol’s 2024 winner, Dylan Wright, debuts at #33 with his fourth EP “Crossroads”. It is also #4 on the Australian Albums Chart.
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” holds at #1 on the Singles Chart for the sixth non-consecutive week. It’s the longest running #1 by a country artist since Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” spent eight weeks on top in 2023.
The rest of the top six is unchanged from last week, with Olivia Dean’s former chart toppers – “Man I Need” and “Rein Me In” (with Sam Fender) – steady at #2 and #3 respectively. Seven of the top 10 singles this week have been to #1.
Michael Jackson rules the On Replay charts again this week, with “Thriller” the #1 album and “Billie Jean” the #1 single. The death of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler last week sees “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” enter the On Replay Singles Chart at #13. It spent six weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart in 1983.
