January 14 offers up a stack of new albums.

ARIA Award-winning Sydney band Lime Cordiale team up with British actor/musician Idris Elba for Cordi Elba. Recorded in Sydney while Elba was in town shooting a movie, the mini album includes a new version of Lime’s ‘Unnecessary Things’, plus the current single ‘Apple Crumble’.

American rapper Earl Sweatshirt releases Sick!, his fourth studio album. Between Some Rap Songs (#40 Dec. ‘18) and the new album, Sweatshirt released the 2019 EP Feet Of Clay. Sick! includes the singles ‘2010’, ‘Tabula Rasa’ and ‘Titanic’.

After scoring her highest chart entry with Magdalene (#22 Nov. ‘19), FKA Twigs returns with Caprisongs. The first mixtape from the British singer-songwriter includes collaborations with The Weeknd, Jorja Smith and Shygirl, among others.

Five years on from making his first ever Top 50 appearance with Migration (#12 Jan. ‘17), British DJ/producer Bonobo releases seventh studio album, Fragments. The new album features ARIA chart-topper Joji, plus Jordan Rakei and Jamila Woods.

American singer-songwriter Cat Power returns with Covers, her eleventh studio album. The follow-up to Wanderer (#42 Oct. ‘18) is the third Cat Power album of reinterpretations of songs by classic and contemporary artists after 2000’s The Covers Record and Jukebox (#36 Jan. ‘08). It features songs by the likes of Billie Holiday, Iggy Pop, The Replacements, Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey.

The Wombats release Fix Yourself, Not the World, their first album in four years. The British trio recorded remotely during several COVID-19 lockdowns with each band member in a different location: Matthew Murphy in Los Angeles, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen in Oslo and drummer Dan Haggis in London.

Veteran singer-songwriter Elvis Costello releases his 32nd album, The Boy Named If. It’s his fourth album credited with backing The Imposters and comes 18 months on from previous Costello album, Hey Clockface.

American indie folk band The Lumineers return with Brightside, their fourth album. It comes as the follow-up to III (#23 Sept. ‘19) and features the singles ‘Big Shot’ and ‘A.M. Radio’.

American rock band Underoath release their ninth album, Voyeurist. The group’s first album since 2018’s Erase Me includes the single ‘Damn Excuses’.
