Taking out their fourth #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with CALM, 5 Seconds Of Summer become the third Australian act to claim the top spot in 2020. The Sydney band also become the second Australia group, after Silverchair, to have their first four studio albums debut at #1 on the ARIA Charts.
On hearing of their #1 triumph, the band said: We are blown away by the news that our 4th record CALM has topped the Australian charts this week. And to have our first four albums go to #1 in our home country is so so special; we can’t thank our fans enough for making this happen. Thank you to everyone that listened to the record this week. We hope it brought you some joy during such challenging times. Love to everyone back home. Stay safe and well. - 5SOS
ARIA CEO Dan Rosen said: Congratulations to Ashton, Calum, Luke, Michael and the whole 5 Seconds Of Summer team for this incredible achievement. Getting a Number One album is difficult at any time, but topping the ARIA Charts in such an uncertain period shows how much their music means to their fans around Australia. Their success internationally also proves that in these times of isolation, Australian music still carries hope and optimism around the world.
