Moves for Keith Urban, Coldplay and more!
In its fifth week in the top 50, John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John’s Friends For Christmas has hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time. The album debuted at #3 in November and hits #1 after two weeks at #4. Friends For Christmas becomes the twentieth Australian #1 album on the ARIA Charts in 2016.
With Keith Urban currently touring nationally, Ripcord returns to the top five for the first time since early June. The album spent its first two weeks on the chart at #1.
In the week Coldplay wrapped up their Australian tour, A Head Full Of Dreams (#2 Dec. ’15) returns to the top ten for the first time since mid-March. Further down the chart the band’s 4 CD Catalogue Set has achieved a new peak at #27.
On tour with Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood returns to the top 50 at #28 with Storyteller.
As well as Friends For Christmas at #1, there’s seven other Christmas albums in this week’s top 50: Michael Bublé’s Christmas (#2), Pentatonix’s A Pentatonix Christmas (#23). Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas (#24), Human Nature’s The Christmas Album (#25), Pentatonix’s That’s Christmas To Me (#31), The Ten Tenors’ Our Christmas Wish (#33) and Kylie Minogue’s Kylie Christmas (#46).
Debuts:
#6: J. Cole ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ – The fourth studio album from J. Cole gives the American rapper his first appearance in the top ten on the ARIA Albums Chart. 4 Your Eyez Only is the follow-up to 2014 Forest Hills Drive (#40 Dec. ’14) and takes over from Born Sinner (#14 Jul. ’13) as his highest peak.
#12: Isaiah ‘Isaiah’ – The debut album from 2016 X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace. It includes the single ‘It's Gotta Be You’ (#26 Nov. ’16), as well as covers of tracks by the likes of Rudimental, Pharrell, Rihanna and Beyonce.
