Debuts for Lauv, Body Count and more!
Releasing Eternal Atake, American rapper Lil Uzi Vert claims his first ARIA Charts #1 album (more below).
All three of Post Malone’s albums have moved back up the chart: Hollywood’s Bleeding (#11 to #7), Beerbongs & Bentleys (#30 to #21) and Stoney (re-entry at #42). This week saw the release of the film Spenser Confidential, a film in which Post Malone acts.
Doja Cat’s Hot Pink moves up five to score a new peak at #19.
G Flip’s ARIA-nominated debut album About Us returns to the Top 50 at #30. It comes on the back of the announcement of a run of dates in regional Australia during May.
Debuts:
#1: Lil Uzi Vert ‘Eternal Atake’ – American rapper Lil Uzi Vert takes out his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Eternal Atake. The Philadelphia artist’s second album comes three years on from his debut, Luv Is Rage 2 (#22 Sept. ’17), which went to #1 in the US. The album’s opening track, ‘Baby Pluto’ debuted at #48 on this week’s Singles Chart.
#5: Lauv ‘~how i'm feeling~’ – Releasing his debut album, ~how i'm feeling~, American singer-songwriter Lauv hits the Albums Chart Top 50 for the first time. The album includes the Troye Sivan-featured ‘I’m So Tired…’ (#11 Mar. ’19), the Anne-Marie-featured ‘F**k, I'm Lonely’ (#19 Aug. ’19) and the LANY-featured ‘Mean It’ (#42 Nov. ’19).
#27: Body Count ‘Carnivore’ – The Ice-T-fronted metal band Body Count take out a fourth Top 50 entry with Carnivore. The band’s seventh album comes three years on from Bloodlust (#12 Apr. ’17) and includes a cover of Motorhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’. Evanescence’s Amy Lee and Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta are among the guests on Carnivore.
#29: Jhené Aiko ‘Chilombo’ – Jhené Aiko scores her first chart entry in Australia with Chilombo. It’s the third album from the American singer-songwriter/rapper, the follow-up to 2017’s Trip. In 2016, Aiko and rapper Big Sean teamed up to release a self-titled album as Twenty88.
#33: #1 Dads ‘Golden Repair’ – Melbourne’s #1 Dads make their debut Top 50 appearance as they release their third album Golden Repair. The project of Big Scary’s Tom Ianek, #1 Dads last released an album six years ago: 2014’s About Face. As #1 Dads, Ianek was nominated for Best Male Artist at the 2015 ARIA Awards.
