Two-time ARIA Award winners Lime Cordiale charge onto the ARIA Albums Chart at #1 this week with their third release, Enough Of The Sweet Talk. It’s the follow-up to 14 Steps To A Better You, which hit #1 for one week in 2020.
On their success, the band shared: “Ah man this feels so amazing, we put a lot into this album and to have so many people appreciating it feels incredible. Thanks to everyone who brought or streamed our album this week, we met so many people at our signings and events this week and are always overwhelmed how beautiful and kind these people are.
“We’ve worked so hard with Chugg Music to push this as hard as it can go. It’s really awesome having an indie label help us to be the first Australian artist to get #1 in the ARIA Albums Chart this year. Australian music is #1.”
The Sydney-based band was mentored by Iva Davies of Icehouse fame and reached #79 in 2017 with their first full-length album, Permanent Vacation. Their 2022 EP, Cordi Elba, with English actor, singer and DJ Idris Elba, peaked at #9. They are on tour in Australia with Ball Park Music in October.
ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “FINALLY. We have an Australian #1 album in 2024 and it feels incredible. Congratulations to Lime Cordiale for an amazing debut at the top of the Albums Chart, and also for taking out the inaugural Australian #1 Album Award earlier today. It’s an outstanding achievement, everyone at ARIA is so happy for them and their team.”
Also new at #10 are Aussie electronic music duo Empire Of The Sun with Ask That God. It’s their fourth album and fourth trip to the top 10: Walking On A Dream peaked at #6 in 2008, Ice On The Dune hit #3 in 2013 and Two Vines stopped at #7 in 2016. Along the way they have collected eight ARIA Awards.
On the Singles Chart, it’s five weeks on top for Virginia-born Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy), while the highest new entry of the week goes to Post Malone and Luke Combs’ Guy For That, new at #18. It’s the third track from Postie’s upcoming country album, F-1 Trillion, which drops in two weeks. The lead track, I Had Some Help with Morgan Wallen, spent one week at #1 in May and sits at #3 this week.
