Maisie Peters glows at #1

UK singer Maisie Peters lands her first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart as “Florescence” takes the top spot this week, along with #1 on the Vinyl Chart. It’s her third studio album; she reached #4 in 2023 with “The Good Witch”.

Canberra rock band Hands Like Houses arrive at #5 on the Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian Albums Chart with their sixth studio album, “Lotus”. They reached #51 in 2023 with “Unimagine”, #7 in 2016 with “Dissonants”, #4 in 2018 with “Anon” and #36 last year with “Atmospherics”. 

Adelaide’s Aleksiah scores her first chart with “Good Paper”, new at #7 and it’s at #2 on the Australian Albums Chart.

Melbourne’s Amyl and the Sniffers land at #22 (and #2 on the Vinyl Chart, #3 on the Australian Albums Chart) with a re-issue of “Giddy Up/Big Attraction”, which brings together the band’s first two EPs in a remastered 12-inch vinyl and CD edition. The winners of seven ARIA Awards, they now boast four top 50 albums: “Amyl and the Sniffers” (#22 in 2019), “Comfort To Me” (#2 in 2021) and “Cartoon Darkness” (#2 in 2024). 

Kingswood rack up their fifth top 50 album with “Midnight Mavericks”, new at #23 on the main chart, #3 on the Vinyl Albums Chart and #4 on the Australian Albums Chart. The Melbourne rock band hit #6 in 2014 with “Microscopic Wars”, #10 in 2017 with “After Hours, Close To Dawn”, #14 in 2020 with “Juveniles” and #15 in 2023 with “Home”. 

Olivia Rodrigo scores her fifth #1 single as “The Cure” lands in the penthouse in its first week. She was at #1 in late April with “Drop Dead”, which bounces back from #23 to #9 this week. Both tracks are from her upcoming third album, “You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love”, which drops on 12 June.

Olivia’s “Drivers Licence” spent six weeks on top in 2021, “Good 4 U” ruled for five weeks also in 2021 and “Vampire” was #1 for one week in 2023. 

The revival of The Chemical Brothers’ 2015 song “Go” continues. It rises from #14 to #11, thanks to its use in the new Netflix film “Apex”. It originally peaked at #56 in May 2015.  

Three-time ARIA Award winner G Flip debuts at #48 with “Bed On Fire” from the album “Dream Ride”, which peaked at #4 last year. It’s their first entry on the main top 50 singles chart and is at #2 on the Australian Singles Chart. 

Michael Jackson continues to rule the On Replay charts, with “Thriller” the #1 album and “Billie Jean” the #1 single.
