It’s seven straight weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart for the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, making it the longest running #1 album of 2025.
Royel Otis arrive at #5 with their second full-length album, Hickey. Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic reached #10 with Pratts & Pain in 2024 and collected four ARIA Awards that year, including Best Rock Album and Best Group.
The duo have had a big year of touring, including appearances at Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and Reading this month, where they brought Sophie Ellis-Bextor on stage to perform Murder On The Dance Floor (their version of her song reached #35 on the ARIA Singles Chart last year). Last month, Moody from the new album reached #1 on the Triple A radio chart in the US.
Another K-pop entrant, Stray Kids, debut at #4 with Karma, marking the boy band’s seventh top 20 appearance in Australia. It follows Noeasy (#14 in 2021), Maxident (#4 in 2022), 5-Star (#2 in 2023), Rock-Star (#2 in 2023), Ate (#2 in 2024) and Hop (#4 in 2024).
Laufey’s A Matter of Time steps onto the chart in the #2 spot. It’s the Icelandic singer’s third album and second chart appearance: she reached #6 in 2023 with Bewitched. Following closely behind is Deftones’ 10th studio album, Private Music, which debuts at #3. They have racked up six top 20 albums: White Pony (#2 in 2000), Deftones (#4 in 2003), Koi No Yokan (#16 in 2012), Gore (one week at #1 in 2016) and Ohms (#3 in 2020).
Sombr’s debut album I Barely Know Her is new at #6. The New Yorker has scored three top 20 singles this year: Undressed, which peaked at #2, Back To Friends which reached #3 and 12 To 12, which climbs to #15 this week.
American country star Lainey Wilson reaches a new chart peak as the deluxe edition of Whirlwind enters at #8. It got to #19 in August last year.
John Fogerty returns with another greatest hits album, as Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years enters at #9 (it contains his versions of CCR hits). His chart history stretches back to 1969, with CCR’s Willy And The Poor Boys. As a solo artist, he has released 10 studio albums; the best charter was Centerfield, which peaked at #4 in 1985.
Rounding out the top 10 debuts, is the 10th anniversary edition of Tyler, The Creator’s CHERRY BOMB enters at a new peak of #10. It reached at #13 in 2015. Tyler, who is currently touring here, and opened the fourth GOLF flagship store in Sydney today, has gone on to score five straight top 10 albums.
His most recent, DON’T TAP THE GLASS, hit #4 last month and is at #23 this week, while CHROMAKOPIA sits at #16, and IGOR at #24.
Wolf Alice’s fourth studio album, The Clearing, debuts at #14. The UK rock band climbed to #41 in 2015 with My Love Is Cool and #9 in 2021 with Blue Weekend.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie makes an extraordinary climb back to #21 with Ruby after not appearing in the top 50 since 12 May. The group have just concluded the European leg of their world tour.
The 30th anniversary edition of Jebediah’s debut album Slightly Odway lands at #35. It peaked at #7 in 1997 and was the first of their four top 10 albums.
Bleak Squad, the Melbourne-based group comprising Mick Turner (Dirty Three, Mess Esque), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, The Birthday Party), Adalita (Magic Dirt) and Marty Brown (Art of Fighting) are new at #40 with their first album, Strange Love.
Canberra band Hands Like Houses’ album Atmospherics re-enters at #46; it peaked at #36 last year. They have hit the top 10 twice: Dissonants got to #7 in 2016 and Anon reached #4 in 2018. R
On the Singles Chart, Golden from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack holds at #1 for the fifth week in a row. The album is home to five of the top 10 singles this week, with Golden in the penthouse, Soda Pop at #4, Your Idol at #5, How It’s Done at #7, and What It Sounds Like at #8.
The biggest mover of the week is Man I Need by Olivia Dean, which vaults from #43 to #12. It’s her second hit: she recently hit #24 with Nice To Each Other, which is at #25 this week.
Doja Cat has the highest new entry of the week, as Jealous Type arrives at #28. It’s the lead single from her new album, Vie, which drops in late September. Jealous Type is Doja’s 16th top 50 hit as a solo or featured artist; her biggest, Paint The Town Red, spent 10 weeks at #1 in 2023.
