Sitting at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week with Medicine At Midnight, American rockers Foo Fighters have scored their seventh straight studio album to reach #1.

They become only the fifth act in ARIA Charts history to have seven or more consecutive studio albums reach the top spot, joining rarefied company that also includes Eminem, U2, Taylor Swift and The 12th Man.

Foo Fighters’ seven straight #1s began with One By One (#1 Oct. ‘02), and have continued through In Your Honor (#1 Jun. ‘05), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (#1 Oct.  ‘07), Wasting Light (#1 Apr. ‘11), Sonic Highways (#1 Nov. ‘14), Concrete And Gold (#1 Sept. ‘17) and Medicine At Midnight (#1 Feb. ’21).

Taylor Swift managed to get seven straight #1s in just over a decade, starting with Speak Now (#1 Nov. ’10). She’s continued her run with Red (#1 Oct. ’12), 1989 (#1 Nov. ’14), Reputation (#1 Nov. ’17), Lover (#1 Sept. ’19), folklore (#1 Aug, ’20) and evermore (#1 Dec. ’20).

Billy Birmingham, aka The 12th Man, is the only Australian artist to have such a long, unbroken run of #1s. The comedian topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Wired World of Sports (#1 Jan. ‘88), 12th Man Again! (#1 Mar. ‘90), Still the 12th Man (#1 Jan. ‘93), Wired World of Sports II (#1 Dec. ‘94), Bill Lawry... This Is Your Life (#1 Dec. ‘97), The Final Dig? (#1 Dec. ‘01) and Boned! (#1 Dec. ‘06).
