The Kid LAROI scores 20 in the top 50

The Kid LAROI marks his 20th track in the ARIA Singles Chart top 50 this week with Girls, while Taylor Swift reclaims the #1 spot on the Albums Chart as The Tortured Poets Department steps up from #3 last week for a fifth non-consecutive week on top. 

So far this year, female artists have ruled the ARIA Albums Chart for 24 out of 27 weeks. Taylor has been in the penthouse for 15 weeks with 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Midnights, Lover and The Tortured Poets Department.

Indiana-born singer-songwriter Omar Apollo scores his first chart presence in Australia, as his second studio album, God Said No, lands at #11. He was nominated for Best New Artist in the GRAMMY Awards in 2023.

Imagine Dragons arrive at #17 with their sixth studio album, Loom. Their first four albums – Night Visions in 2012, Smoke + Mirrors in 2015, Evolve in 2017, and Origins in 2018 – all peaked at #4 here, while their fifth album Mercury Act 1 topped out at #10. 

Former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello is new at #29 with her “rebrand album” C, XOXO. Her debut solo album, Camila, peaked at #3 in 2018, Romance reached #6 in 2019 and Familia got to #27 in 2022.  

GRAMMY-nominated Melbourne jazz funk band Hiatus Kaiyote debut at #40 with Love Heart Cheat Code. It’s their fourth studio album; their second album, Choose Your Weapon, reached #22 in 2015 while their third, Mood Valiant, took them to #4 in 2021.  

The late, great American country star Johnny Cash debuts at #64 with Songwriter: a collection of previously unreleased, self-penned 1993 recordings. Since his death in September 2003, the man in black has landed at #10 in 2005 with The Legend of Johnny Cash, #4 in 2006 with American V: A Hundred Highways, #32 in 2006 with Duets (with June Carter), #22 in 2010 with American VIAin’t No Grave, and #4 in 2014 with Out Among The Stars.  

On the Singles Chart, Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) rises from #2 to #1, marking his first hit here. It interpolates J-Kwon’s Tipsy which reached #5 in 2004. Earlier this week Shaboozey performed the track with J-Kwon at the BET Awards.  

And of course, Aussie superstar The Kid LAROI debuts at #21 with Girls. He first hit the top 50 in June 2020 with Go (with Juice Wrld), which peaked at #23. His tally includes two #1 singles: Without You and Stay (with Justin Bieber). His other current track, Nights Like This, steps up from #48 to a new peak of #26.
