'Dance Monkey' Extends Record.
Tones And I has notched up a 20th week at #1 with ‘Dance Monkey’, extending her record for longest ever leader on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track has also tied the record for longest running #1 by a female lead artist in the UK, equalling Rihanna’s 2007 hit ‘Umbrella’ and Whitney Houston’s 1992 classic ‘I Will Always Love You’, with 10 weeks in the top spot. Meanwhile, Tones And I’s follow-up single ‘Never Seen The Rain’ rises one spot to a new peak of #7.
Right behind in #2, Dua Lipa's 'Don't Start Now' hits a new peak in its sixth week on the chart.
Continuing its annual climb, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey leaps nine places but narrowly misses the Top Ten, coming in at #11 this week. The track, which was released in 1994 and peaked at #1 in December 2018 is now certified 6x Platinum.
Another seasonal favourite, 'Last Christmas' by Wham! also continues its ascent, moving up eight places to #30.
Following his untimely death at 21 years of age this week, Juice WRLD’s ‘Lucid Dreams’ re-enters the chart at #16. The song is the US singer and rapper’s biggest hit in Australia, peaking at #8 in July 2018 and spending 11 weeks inside the Top 20 during its initial chart run. Juice WRLD also appears in this week’s Singles Chart at #45 with ‘Bandit’ featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and at #49 with ‘Robbery’. His debut album, Goodbye & Good Riddance (May ‘18), also enters the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time at #39.
After 60 weeks on the Singles Chart, 31 of which were in the Top 10, ‘Sunflower’ by Post Malone & Swae Lee rebounds 15 places to #21. The track peaked at #1 in January and is certified 8x Platinum. The US singer also appears at #5 this week with ‘Circles’ and at #47 with ‘Wow’.
Post Malone isn't the only artist with a single rebounding up the chart this week. Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved' rises seven spots to #10, Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy' jumps 10 places to #12, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's 'Senorita' leaps eight positions to #17, Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' swings back 11 spots to #11, and 'Eastside' by Benny Blanco with Halsey and Khalid lands at #34 after charting at #45 last week.
Debuts:
#14: Harry Styles ‘Adore You’ – This week’s only debut, ‘Adore You’ is the third track Harry Styles released ahead of his new album Fine Line. First single ‘Lights Up’ peaked at #7 in October and spent seven weeks on the chart, while ‘Watermelon Sugar’ falls four places to #32 this week.
