Debuts for Gang Of Youths, Andrea Bocelli, Pierce Brothers and more!

The soundtrack to the hit film A Star Is Born holds #1 for a second week on the ARIA Albums Chart. Three tracks from the album sit in the Top 20 on this week’s Singles Chart, including ‘Shallow’ at #1.
 
As Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody hits Australian cinemas, the film’s soundtrack jumps up three spots to #2 in its second week on the chart. Two other Queen albums have moved up the chart this week: Greatest Hits is up 14 to #11 and The Platinum Collection has climbed 11 to #18.
 
Hitting the midway point of her Australian tour, Taylor Swift jumps eight spots to land back into the Top Ten at #4 with former #1 Reputation. It’s the album’s 14th week in the Top Ten. Swift’s previous album 1989 has also moved up eight spots, this week it’s at #29.
 
Two long-running chart inhabitants have returned to the Top Ten this week: The Greatest Showman soundtrack has moved back up seven to sit at #6 and Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys has moved five spots to #9.

#5: Gang Of Youths ‘MTV Unplugged (Live In Melbourne)’ – 2017 ARIA Album Of The Year winners Gang Of Youths take out a fourth Top Ten on the Albums Chart entry with the live release MTV Unplugged (Live In Melbourne). Recorded in July 2018, the set sees the Sydney group perform nine tracks from Go Farther In Lightness (#1 Aug. ’17) and one from the EP Let Me Be Clear (#2 Aug. ’16). Gang Of Youths first hit the Albums Chart with The Positions (#5 Apr. ’15).
 
#7: Andrea Bocelli ‘Si’ – Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli releases his 16th studio album, Si. The follow-up to Cinema (#7 Nov. ’15) is Bocelli’s first album of original material since Andrea (#12 Nov. ’04) and includes collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Josh Gorban and Bocelli’s son Matteo. Bocelli’s highest chart peak to date was with Romanza (#2 Sept. ‘98).
 
#13: Pierce Brothers ‘Atlas Shoulders’ – Melbourne’s Pierce Brothers score a second entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with Atlas Shoulders. It’s the folk duo’s debut album and comes a year on from their first Top 50 entry with the EP My Tired Mind (#9 Nov. ’17).
 
#17: Joji ‘Ballads 1’ – Japanese singer-songwriter/producer Joji makes his first appearance on the ARIA Charts with Ballads 1. Joji, whose real name is George Miller, first came to prominence as a YouTube star called Filthy Frank. He has also previously released hip hop under the moniker Pink Guy. The first Joji release was the EP In Tongues, released in November 2017.
 
#20: Robyn ‘Honey’ – Robyn scores her first entry in the ARIA Top 50 with Honey. The Swedish electropop artist’s eighth album is her first in eight years. In 2010, Robyn released Body Talk Pt. 1, Body Talk Pt. 2 and the compilation Body Talk.
 
#21: The Kingdom Choir ‘Stand By Me’ – After performances at the Royal Wedding of Harry and Meghan and the Invictus Games closing ceremony, London’s The Kingdom Choir make their ARIA Charts debut with Stand By Me. The album contains the choir’s take on tracks including Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’, Beyoncé’s ‘Halo’ and John Farnham’s ‘You’re The Voice’. The ensemble will tour Australia in August 2019.
 
#34: David Campbell ‘Baby It’s Christmas’ – Multi-talent Australian performer David Campbell hits the Albums Chart with festive album Baby It’s Christmas. Campbell’s seventh album to chart in the Top 50 features his take on Christmas classics such as ‘Silent Night’, ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’, ‘Little Saint Nick’, ‘Jingle Bells’ and more. He last charted with David Campbell Sings John Bucchino (#37 Jun. ’14).
 
#41: Chillinit ‘Women Weed & Wordplay’ – Chillinit makes his ARIA Charts debut with Women Weed & Wordplay. It’s the first album from the Sydney rapper who has built a following via SoundCloud and YouTube.
