Who'll top the ARIA Charts this week?

Contenders include Sticky Fingers, Bon Iver, Opeth and more.

On last week’s ARIA Charts, The Chainsmokers claimed their eighth week at #1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Closer’, equalling Lukas Graham’s ‘7 Years’ for most weeks in the top spot in 2016. On the Albums Chart, Passenger scored his first #1 with seventh album Young As The Morning Old As The Sea.

Are we likely to see new chart-toppers on this week’s ARIA Charts?

Here are some of the titles that could be contenders.

Sydney band Sticky Fingers could be set for their second top three debut in a row with Westway (The Glitter & The Slums); Bon Iver could also be set for a top three finish with his first album in five years 22, A Million; Swedish metal veterans Opeth could snare a second top ten album with twelfth album Sorceress; after peaking at #17 with debut album Goddess in 2014, Banks could make her top ten debut with follow-up The Altar; Van Morrison returns with his 36th studio album Keep Me Singing; with their eighth album, Here We Go, The Sunny Cowgirls could pick up their fourth top 50; American singer-songwriter Regina Spektor releases her first album in four years, Remember Us To Life; before splitting, Yellowcard release their self-titled tenth studio album; indie veterans Pixies release their second post-reformation album Head Carrier; Melbourne worship group Planetshakers could pick up a fifth top 50 entry with Overflow; Craig David could make his first top 50 appearance since 2010 with Following My Intuition; Solange could pick up her debut top 50 entry with A Seat At The Table; Christian folk duo Melissa Helser & Jonathan David could make their Albums Chart debut with eighth album Beautiful Surrender; Eric Clapton could hit the top 50 again with new live album Live In San Diego (With Special Guest JJ Cale).

Look out for moves up the Albums Chart by Keith Urban’s Ripcord and Bernard Fanning’s Civil Dusk.

Niall Horan will be looking for a high debut with his first post-1D single ‘This Town’; with ‘Closer’ still riding high at #1, The Chainsmokers could hit the top 50 with new single ‘All We Know’; Bliss N Eso return with their first single in two years, ‘Dopamine’; LA duo Frenship will be looking for their ARIA Charts top 50 debut with ‘Capsize’.

Singles that could make a move this week include The Weeknd & Daft Punk’s ‘Starboy’, Shawn Mendes’ ‘Mercy’ and Keith Urban’s ‘The Fighter’.
